Hey Erica! I’ve seen some of your videos talking about your opinions on 52100 steel, but do you have any thoughts on 5160? I just got an email from Buck and they have a limited run on their 124 using 5160 but idk how I feel about the $225 price tag. Any thoughts ?

Benchmade have better aesthetic designs, some awful heat treats, uneven edge grinds, and are way overpriced. Spyderco are better users, better heat treats, and also have uneven edge grinds (except Taiwan made), and some are overpriced (Shaman). If Spyderco priced everything like some of their Manix 2 models and fixed their god awful edge grinds coming out of Golden (and sometimes Seki) I'd never look at another Benchmade. Both need to come with deep carry clip options.

Gotta say I really enjoy your no-nonsense frankness. I own several CQC-7 knives from other manufacturers going back to the mid-90s. All are marked Emerson, not actually made by Emerson. Benchmade, Kershaw. The Emerson logo or the Skull. I'll look into his own company. I thought he was just a designer/engineer. I didn't know he also actually made knives. Liked and subscribed. Keep doing what you do.
